Trail running compression shorts with extensive storage options. Customers praised the "oodles of room" for nutrition, phones, and gear. Shorts "stay put" and "don't ride up" during runs. However, sizing runs small—shoppers consistently recommend sizing up for comfort. Some noted limited color options and issues with pole holder strings breaking. Otherwise, highly rated for comfort and functionality.

True to size awesome running shorts

So I should've paid attention to the sizing information. I did look at it, but in my experience compressions shorts like this often work better when tight vs. loose. I sized one size down from the recommended. I figured they'd provide better compression and the contents of pockets would bounce around less. Plus I have a pair of Flipbelt baggy/loose (mens) running shorts and they work just fine sized down. But apparently these were too tight sized down. But I love the design and ALL the pockets and storage configurations. One thing I don't like or understand though, the waist pockets don't accommodate the larger hard-sided Flipbelt bottles. The thigh pocket does, but unlike my other Flipbelt shorts which accommodate the large bottle in the waist, these don't. But they do still accommodate the smaller bottle and my phone. Plus the integrated waist pockets will store your keys and an assortment of snacks. Great shorts overall!

Good quality shorts with many features

These shorts are solid and very durable. Material is stretchy and soft but the sticking and zippers feel like the material is sturdy and won’t break easily. I love the army green color that is not see through. They do have more of a compressive feel so keep that in mind when choosing your size. It feels pretty tight around the waist area. It has various features including a pole carrying system, several compartments and a whistle. I like the whistle feature but not sure how practical it is. You can’t reach it to blow it while wearing it and I can’t find a way to disconnect it. I like the rubbery leg grip so the shorts stay in place with activity. It is pricey so I would only invest in it if you would benefit with all the features and go hiking regularly.

Versatile shorts for runners

These trail shorts are designed with all the needs of a runner in mind. There are multiple pockets to store phone, keys and even a small water bottle. And there are additional strings to attach lanyards if racing wihout using a safety pin. The shorts are made of excellent quality material which provides good compression to the thighs. They are comfortable to wear and have good moisture absorption as well. Note that the size was somewhat smaller than what I expected but it’s stretchable enough that I can still use it.

Good shorts, SIZE UP

I love using a FlipBelt when I'm out for a walk or jog to hold my phone, so these compression shorts with the belt part built in seemed like a no-brainer. Believe them when they say "compression"--these are TIGHT. I almost thought I wouldn't be able to get them on even after sizing up (I'm 5'6" and 153 lbs) but they went on. There are a million pockets and closures and things and they are made well. Comfortable once you get them on, but tight for sure. Love their fun pattern!

Excellent for long trail runs

These shorts are really well designed for carrying everything I need without having to wear a separate running belt. There is plenty of room for my phone, keys, gels, and other small items, and everything stays surprisingly secure without bouncing around while running. The compression fit is comfortable, and the waistband stays put even when it is loaded up.I especially like the built in pole storage since it keeps the poles accessible without having to stop and adjust anything. The only downside is that there are so many features that it takes a little time to figure out where everything goes. Once I got used to the layout, though, these became a really convenient option for longer runs and trail days.

Mixed Feelings

Overall I have mixed feelings about these shorts. They fit terrific but be aware they fit like shapewear. Meaning they are very snug and form fitting to the body. There are a ton of little straps on these shorts all the way around so that the waistband acts like a utility belt so that you can carry all kinds of stuff in it. I really don't like all the little ties all the way around and I personally will probably be removing them because it's just too much they could have closed it in another manner however it is extremely useful using the waistband like a tool belt. Lots of choices of colors and they're very vibrant and stylish.

Awesome compression trail shorts

I just realized after I got back from my hike that the loops on the back of the shorts are for your collapsible hiking sticks. I use them to pull my shorts up when I stopped at a porta potty. Oops.Liv and learn. I guess they're multipurpose. HahaThese compression shorts feel AMAZING! They hug your hips and lower back and I had zero back pain on my 1.5 mile hike. They're silky soft and have lots of pockets for your phone, key, water bottle etc. There's these bungy cord type tabs to attach a race number on your front and back.OMG y'all, I also just realized there's a whistle on them too!!They're SUPER DURABLE and I love this army green color. They have little rubber grippy dots around the hemlines t keep them in place. They dry really quickly too! This is my first true pair of compression running/hiking shorts and now I understand wat all the fancy fuss is about. These are a great value and should last you years!I'm obsessed with them.HIGHLY RECOMMENDXOXO KOKO

Great shorts, but I recommend sizing up

I’m really happy with these shorts. I’ve worn FlipBelt shorts before, so I’m already familiar with how this brand fits. The compression around the waist is pretty snug, and personally I find my normal size a little too tight for longer wear.I’m 5’7”, around 155 lb, and usually wear a medium, but with FlipBelt I always go up to a large. The large fits me much more comfortably while still feeling secure and supportive. The built-in storage is one of the main reasons I like these for running. Everything stays close to the body without needing a separate belt, which is especially convenient for longer runs.If you like a strong compression fit, your regular size may work well, but for a more comfortable fit I would definitely recommend sizing up.

I love this shorts!!! Wore them for Flagstaff

I love this shorts!!! Wore them for Flagstaff Crest 40 but this new release I give 4 stars because NO ONE wants “Flipbelt” in big letters running down one leg. You don’t need to advertise that heavily. Will gladly buy multiple pairs in every color if you get rid of the lettering. The little logo on the front bottom is great, but I don’t want to be your advertisement for you. I had someone ask me what shorts I wore & I told them!! The first release was great!!! Get rid of the obnoxious lettering please.

Amazing fit, feel and style!

These really are the best trail running shorts ever. I’m a guy who already bought a couple of the men’s versions but I really liked this color way, so I just sized up one size in this women’s variant and they actually fit better than the men’s version. I like it that they are a bit more high waisted and they have the rear pockets along the waistband. The color is so much fun.

Waist band is tight. Size up?

I really wanted to like this more!! Unfortunately for my body, the waist band is too tight and I have to return. It was noticeable on my runs and I couldn’t get over it. Size up!One thing I really liked the idea of for these was the bib holders and the zipper pocket. The bib holder string attachments have an aglet on them. I thought they would just be cut string and nothing more. Very sturdy. They didn’t bounce much and even if they do, you can tuck them into the band. Just be careful with the clinch pins falling off.The zipper pocket is the right size to hold a credit card or keys. I have a badge that I use to get into the building at work, and I have been on a run where it fell off of me. I had to run back to track where I dropped my badge. It was tiring, frustrating and embarrassing having to backtrack. With these shorts, my badge is zipped away and can’t fall on the ground. Perfect!!!My phone fit fine in the pocket. I have an iPhone 16 Plus , and I do think the side pockets are big enough for the bigger 16 Pro Plus?I don't know if I would put my phone in the front waist band pocket , but it seems secure enough. The snaps for the trekking pole holders are unique. They’re not difficult to understand, but a bit tricky to lock together since it’s kind of out of your sight. You really have to twist around to see where to insert the locking mechanism. The shorts come with about 1/2” to a 3/4” of rubber dots on the thighs to keep from riding up. I couldn’t measure exactly but it did ok. I typically like 7” inseam shorts because I have thighs that touch and chafe, and a baby mole that gets really tender and raw on the inside of my thigh if left to rub. It gets painful. Making sure the shorts stay down is critical. The photo of me wearing the shorts is after a 5k run. I didn’t pull the shorts back down just so you all could see how high they rode up. It was ok. I have shorts from other brands with thicker rubber dot bands and they handle better than these, but I’ve also got shorts without rubber dots that ride up and become useless. I’m grateful these shorts have them. These do well on runs but I truly think the waistband is the Achilles heel of these shorts. Running with the tight band was distracting.I bough my normal size, a size Large. I’ve gotten past the fact that I’m no longer a size medium as I’ve gotten into my 30s, so I made sure to measure and verify measurements, but this is not the right waist size for a size large. My waist is 31” at the smallest portion. If Flipbelt could improve that, these would be a solid running short for EVERYONE. better than Janji?I had read that some of the solid colors show sweat, so I liked this patterned black and green short to prevent it from looking sweaty, and I think it works.I will say, it smells like a bathing suit. It’s that type of material, and while I sweat a little bit, it still felt breathable on a 72° day.I really wanted to get this review out since this product had no reviews that were helpful. Maybe this will help someone make their next purchase.

Exceptional Storage and Chafe-Free Comfort, Held Back Only by a Snug Waistband

The FlipBelt Trail Compression Shorts for Women are a highly functional, feature-packed option designed for long-distance and trail running. The standout integrated waist belt provides 360-degree storage with multiple pockets—including a secure zipper pocket—that comfortably hold large smartphones, keys, and gels without bouncing or sagging. Runners also appreciate thoughtful trail features like built-in bib attachments, trekking pole straps, and thigh grip bands that help prevent riding up and chafing. Made from high-quality, breathable, swim-style fabric, the high-waisted cut feels supportive and stays up securely throughout long workouts. However, the waist band runs noticeably tight and can feel restrictive or difficult to pull over the hips, leading to my suggestion of sizing up 1 or 2 sizes for optimal comfort. Definitely check the sizing chart. Overall, despite a snug waistband, these shorts offer unmatched storage capacity and bounce-free performance that rivals top endurance apparel brands.

Highly functional -- appearance, I suppose, is subjective

My wife does long-distance runs and usually carries her phone and other items in a separate waist belt. I'm also a long-distance runner and have used FlipBelt phone-carrying belts for years. So when she saw this, she thought it was kind of the best of all worlds for her needs and wanted to give it try.Overall, she is pretty happy with the function (but maybe a little less so the fashion). The compression function works as expected. They are appropriately tight around the thighs as you would hope. Of course, the special part is around the waist. She carries her iPhone 17 Pro and her AirPods case, as well as a package of carb chews and it all fits perfectly well. She says that it all feels very stable -- maybe because the waist area is just a bit tight, but not uncomfortably so.There are some thoughtful touches like some grippy dots on the inside of the material to keep the compression in place. And of course, all of the pockets and nooks and crannies off a lot of versatility. She does not, however, see a need to carry walking poles off the back -- but I guess nice to have. The one thing is she doesn't love the look. She ended up with a pattern -- magenta panther. On the Amazon page, it looked kind of fun. In person, she feels it's a little too much for her. But that's totally subjective. She also doesn't love the big FlipBelt branding down the leg. She still is happy to use them for the functionality, but that's why we're taking one star off. Otherwise, they are chock full of function and good to add to her running repertoire.

Actually replaces a running belt

I already wear a FlipBelt, and these shorts do the same job without stacking another layer at the waist. I took them on a trail run with a phone, keys, and a couple of gels in the waistband, and nothing bounced or worked its way around. The compression is snug without cutting in, and the cuffs stayed put rather than riding up.The side pockets are useful when you want something easier to grab mid-run than fishing around the waistband, and the pole loops are a nice touch if you hike as much as you run. Makes sense if you want FlipBelt storage without wearing a belt on top of shorts.

Love this pair of shorts

Love this pair of shorts. I wore for a half marathon this past weekend and they stayed put and fit all my stuff. Also love the bib holder and used it.
